Ep 56 - Games & Competition in the Bible
In our continuing theme of "Playfulness in the Bible" we read about the games and competitions that are referenced in the Bible.
In 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 - it talks about running a race, training and preparing, and winning a crown.
In 2 Timothy 2:5 - there's a reference to being an "athlete" and how good athletes only win if they follow the rules.
In 1 Corinthians 15:32 - there's a reference to Paul having been a gladiator and fighting animals for sport.
Zechariah 8:3-6 reminds us that there will come a time when the city streets will be filled with boys & girls playing.
There are references that we shouldn't compete against other men (or women) to puff ourselves up. Instead, we should do everything with humility.
Philippians 2:1-11 shares how we should humble ourselves like Jesus did.
Romans 12:3 (shared by Daebreon) - reminds us not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought.
Micah 6:8 (shared by LaTrice) - tells us exactly what the Lord requires of us: To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God.
