What a fun Bible Study! Tonight we talk about all types of love stories in the Bible - from arranged marriages to people who were crazy in love.
There are those men who loved the wrong woman (Ahab & Jezebel, Samson & Delilah, Potiphar & his wife, Lot & his wife); and women who loved the wrong man (Abigail & Nabal).
There were arranged marriages - like David and some of his wives, Esther and the king.
There were "ride or die" couples - even when they shouldn't have been, like Ananias & Sapphira.
Couples who were together for protection or provision - like David & Abigail and Ruth & Boaz.
Of course, there was forbidden love - like David & Bathsheba. And carnal love - or something - like with Amnon & Tamar (2 Samuel 13).
We focus our scripture readings on two drama-free couples who are worth emulating - Aquila & Priscilla and Ruth & Boaz.
Scriptures:
Acts 18:1-2, 18-19, 26
Romans 16:3
1 Corinthians 16:19-26
Ruth 4:1-8

This Bible Study was recorded a week after the January 6th insurrection. Mob behavior is a spirit - and not a Godly one.
Scripture says we need to look at the heart of a man and not just align with a political party. We know a tree by its fruit. If we put the fruit aside, deny the fruit, we are ignoring God's Word.
Scriptures:Matthew 7:15-23Luke 23:1-25

Isn't it interesting that idol worshipers aren't content just worshiping their own idols? They feel compelled to force you to worship their false idols, too.
Even worse, they weaponize their idols, scheming to attack good, faithful people because they know that's the only thing they can use - the refusal to bow down and worship false idols.
People who worship and weaponize idols operate in lies and schemes, because of jealousy or arrogance, to achieve power or dominance.
Jesus, however, gives us specific instructions about how we are to share truth - and it's not by threats, lies, and intimidation.
Scriptures:

Daniel 3:8-18
Daniel 6:3-16
Matthew 10:5-15
Mark 6:8-11
Luke 9:1-5

Although the Bible instructs us to forgive others and ask for forgiveness, there are no real examples of this in the Bible. There are examples of people repenting to God but not to each other.
We thought Joseph's brothers apologized, but no. As per their usual shady selves, they just told Joseph that their father said to forgive them before he died. (Genesis 50:15-21)
The best example of an apology we found was the Prodigal Son. (Luke 15:11-21)
How do you do at apologizing? What about forgiving others?

Have you ever regretted an entire relationship and wondered if the few happy years you experienced were even worth it? Even Jesus wished He could get a pass on the pain. "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me." And yet, "not as I will but as You will," He said to God the Father. We can get through the difficult times if we trust and believe we are fulfilling our purpose. Be encouraged, my friend.

This is the message storage companies don't want you to hear! Storage is a racket!
There are four categories of stuff:
1) Stuff we can use right now (functional stuff) 2) Stuff that needs to be trashed 3) Stuff that should be given away or donated 4) Legacy stuff that will be passed down to generations
As my dear friend said, "Storage is a first-world problem. We pay for storage of our ‘excess’ stuff!” We really shouldn’t be storing anything!
And there's scripture to back this up. Luke 12:13-21 is the Parable of the Rich Fool! It's a new year so it's time to refresh and get rid of our storage! Don't be a rich fool!

Connie and friends discuss how God the Father and Jesus our Savior process death and grieving vs. how we as humans process it.
Our scriptures: Matthew 5:4 (Blessed are those who mourn...) Isaiah 57:1-2 (The righteous are taken away...) Genesis 4:8-10 (Cain and Abel) John 11:1-44 (Lazarus) Hebrews 11 (By faith...) Galatians 6:9 (Let us not be weary in well doing...)

What Had Happened Was… There are so many hilarious accounts in the Bible. Laugh with me as we study these humorous moments together. The first "What Had Happened Was..." Defense happens in Genesis 3:1-13, with Adam and Eve. In Genesis 17:17-19, we read about Abraham laughing, face down, when God tells him he's going to be the father of many nations. In Genesis 18:9-15, Sarah joins the laughter, and gives the first "Wasn't Me" Defense. Lastly, we look at the hilarious behavior and words of Aaron after he made a golden calf for the Israelites to worship, because Moses was taking too long to come back. Once again, he employs the "What Had Happened Was..." Defense in Exodus 32:1-4 and Exodus 32:21-24.
