Girlfriends Bible Study

Tonight we'll learn about Bathsheba, Michal, and Abigail - three of David's wives. We'll be reading from I & II Samuel.

It's not always true that "blood is thicker than water" or "blood is thicker than mud."
We begin a new study about Friendship in the Bible and start with a look at the friendship between David and Jonathan.
Jonathan chose to do what was right even though it meant defying his father, the king.

We begin our theme - Bad Girls, Rude Women - with an in-depth study of Jezebel and her horrible influence on her husband, King Ahab.
Why are men so attracted to bad girls? And women so attracted to bad boys? It's the confidence. Confidence is sexy.
But you don't have to be evil to be confident! You can be humble and confident.

The Bible is full of wisdom and guidance about what we should do. But there are also lots of stories that tell us what NOT to do! Here are two of them. 

Elizabeth is one of my favorite women in the Bible. I love her and Zechariah's story, which can be found in Luke 1.Elizabeth is the mother of John the Baptist, and a relative of Mary, the mother of Jesus (possibly cousin).

April's theme (Rainy Days in the Bible) was fun!We end the month with a discussion of rain and hail as a punishment - reading about foolish Jonah (chapter 1) who tried to get away from God by hiding on a ship; and that foolish, hard-headed Pharaoh (Exodus 9:13-35) who remained stiff-necked through all the plagues, including the plague of hail.
We also talked about where the phrase "Hail Mary" came from, and shared the foundational scriptures for the "Hail, Mary, full of grace prayer..." (Luke 1:28, 1:42 - KJV).
